Use this delicate dipping sauce for savory root vegetables such as yams, carrots and potatoes.
Preparation time: 20 minutes
Makes 2 servings
½ cup water
5 whole cardamom
2 cinnamon sticks
1 tablespoon whole cloves
1 tablespoon chopped ginger
1 tablespoon maple syrup
1 tablespoon sucanut
1/8 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons arrowroot powder
Heat water in a saucepan. Add the cardamom, cinnamon, cloves and ginger bringing the mixture to a near boil. Then let it simmer for 15 minutes. After simmering add the maple syrup, sucanut and salt. Using a small amount of cold water mix it with the arrowroot powder in a separate bowl. Add the arrowroot water to the sauce and over medium heat, gently stir until the sauce has been thickened.
